Job Summary

As a key member of the commodities team at Ben Aris, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the grains origination program at our ethanol production plant. This involves performing a range of duties to support the goals and objectives of the commodities group and the company.

  • Purchase corn supply as required from producers and grain elevators in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local producers, marketing groups, and elevators, and effectively communicate market intelligence to the broader grain team.
  • Supervise the Commodities Assistant or Grain Procurement Representative positions.
  • Determine appropriate cash contracts for the region.
  • Manage grain purchase position, truck logistics with suppliers, and plant inventory levels to meet plant demand and adhere to inventory and rotation guidelines.
  • Enter purchase contracts into the accounting system and maintain and manage grain records and documentation in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments to producers and elevators.
  • Work with the plant shipping and receiving department to ensure efficient receiving process, manage grain quality, and provide high-level customer service.
  • Communicate grain purchasing and pricing information to the corporate hedge group in a timely and effective manner.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of purchasing experience in an agriculture, grain, or manufacturing sector is required.
  • Experience providing customer service to farmers, grain elevator personnel, and truck drivers is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is also preferred.
