About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Trade Risk Management Leader to join our team at J.P. Morgan. As a key member of our Trade and Working Capital (T&WC) Operations team, you will play a critical role in overseeing a globally dispersed team of Trade Technical Experts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and test controls to mitigate regulatory, compliance, legal, and technical risks associated with T&WC products.
  • Interface with and influence internal partners supported by T&WC Operations, including Product, Technology, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Audit.
  • Provide strategy, recommendations, and updates on issues impacting trade products/transactions to T&WC Operations and internal partners.
  • Represent J.P. Morgan T&WC in industry groups/forums.
  • Interact directly with regulators in exams, reviews, issues, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Manage, influence, and help to implement process changes towards transforming current environment utilizing available technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Identify, measure, control, and monitor the T&WC transaction risk for both internal business units and external corporate clients.
  • Minimize exposure due to risks such as those resulting from human errors, transaction processing failures, and fraudulent activities.
  • Manage a globally dispersed team of Trade Technical Experts responsible for investigating and providing decisions daily on transaction escalations (Sanctions / Money Laundering / Boycott / Export Control / Fraud / complex terms, etc.).
  • Create and deliver the Trade training program: CDCS certification, re-certification, targeted Trade Regulatory Compliance training, risk roundtable forums with internal partners or external clients.
  • Serve as the escalation point for Compliance issues that impact T&WC, including assisting legal/compliance with evaluation of transaction-specific issues and development of response to inquiries posed by regulatory agencies.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews for Sanctions Screening and AML review processes, document results, report to management, and prepare related metrics reporting.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advise on trade transformation projects when required (e.g., Digitization, Automation, etc.).
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of trade products, including commercial (import & export) and standby letters of credit, documentary collections, bank-to-bank reimbursements, supply chain finance, trade loans, open account, etc.
  • Expert-level knowledge of ICC Rules, particularly UCPDC, ISBP, URC, ISP, URR, along with working knowledge of SWIFT rules for 400 and 700 series messages.
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. regulations, such as BSA/AML, OFAC, Anti-Boycott, Export Controls, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to present to senior management/stakeholders in a concise and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate confidence in risk-based decision making with the ability to escalate timely to senior management.
  • Individual must have the highest work ethics and integrity.
  • Possess the ability to analyze processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and influence internal partners to implement changes.
  • Possess the ability to work on multiple tasks/projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to operate in a complex, high-pressure, highly regulated environment in support of high-risk processes.
  • Strong Risk and Controls mindset. Proven track record in handling regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in leadership roles in trade, risk, compliance, or audit areas.
  • Experience managing a globally dispersed team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CDCS certification is a plus.
  • CAMS certification is a plus.
