Estimator II Position

Gilbane Building Company is seeking an Estimator II to support our office in Boston, MA. As an Estimator II, you will be heavily involved in generating estimating deliverables required on projects.
This role will work closely with the Special Projects team to deliver services and will have the opportunity to assist with multiple projects at once. You will also assist with estimates for our National Accounts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction law, contract, and risk management. You will also have the ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications.

The salary for this position will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Boston, MA, this ranges from $90,000 to $123,800.00 plus benefits and retirement program.

Responsibilities of the Estimator II include:
- Producing quantitative surveys and accurate pricing for a project from its early inception through an acceptable working budget, GMP, or Lump Sum Price
- Coordinating project documents for the GMP and Lump Sum Bid project delivery methods
- Leading detailed reviews of civil, architectural and structural subcontractor's scope before award of project contracts
- Obtaining and presenting unit pricing data
- Responsible for outlining clarifications and qualifications within an estimate
- Providing back up for estimates to be used during analysis and review
- Securing and contacting sources for cost estimates for all specialty items
- Identifying indirect costs and General Condition items within estimate
- Possessing and applying knowledge of unit prices and the material/labor component
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
- Producing manpower estimates to coincide with construction estimate
- Compiling complete estimate/bid package breakdown based on input from others
- Establishing estimating protocols for specific types of documentation
- Including managing pre-bid and post-bid process for all trade contractors
- Creating bid documents; identifying and pre-qualifying ample database of bidders and generating bidder interest on a project by project basis
Qualifications for the Estimator II position include:
- BS or MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Finance
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
