Key Responsibilities
- Guide patients to examination areas and prepare them for assessments.
- Conduct interviews to identify medical issues and document findings accurately.
- Measure and record vital signs and weight.
- Assist with physician directives, laboratory requests, and follow-up care.
- Collect samples for testing and perform routine lab procedures.
- Gather patient history and arrange for necessary imaging.
- Coordinate diagnostic procedures and prepare for injections or aspirations.
- Provide educational resources to patients regarding their conditions and self-care.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards concerning bloodborne pathogens.
- Manage appointment scheduling for consultations and follow-ups.
- Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, facilitating communication.
- Complete necessary applications for permits and documentation.
- Document all patient interactions in the electronic health record system.
- Handle patient inquiries and provide appropriate responses and documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or equivalent is desirable.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- One year of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Experience in urgent care settings is advantageous.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The physical demands of this role require the ability to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly. Vision requirements include the ability to see closely. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
