Description
Position Overview
Healthcare Support Specialists perform essential administrative and clinical duties to ensure the efficient operation of medical offices and clinics. Responsibilities may include:
- Reception duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and assisting with intake forms.
- Managing record keeping, accounting, and correspondence.
- Utilizing computer applications for patient billing, transcription, scheduling, insurance claims, and accounts receivable.
- Processing, coding, and completing insurance claim forms.
- Maintaining and stocking medical supplies and equipment.
- Engage with patients, the general public, and medical personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
- Uphold the confidentiality of client information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety standards, including the proper disposal of biohazard waste.
- Assist in health treatments as required.
- Monitor clinic and patient flow, triaging patients for urgent appointments or consultations as necessary.
- Document issues and report critical situations as they arise.
- Support medical staff as a medical scribe.
