Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Obtain and record patient medical histories and vital signs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during exams, demonstrating a strong understanding of clinical procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Perform basic lab tests and collect/prep lab specimens, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and handle patient correspondence, providing exceptional customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and exam rooms, upholding high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Provide patient education and instructions on medical procedures or care, empowering patients to take an active role in their health.
- Assist in minor surgical procedures and wound care, demonstrating a strong understanding of clinical skills.
- Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed, ensuring a well-stocked and efficient clinical environment.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality, upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve preferred.
- Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
- EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
- Additional Requirements:
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
- OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.
- OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
- OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
- OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
- Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
