Overview

The Finance Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the accounting team that supports the mission of Mount Prospect Academy, Inc. and Vermont Permanency Initiative, Inc. This position is essential for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP and internal control protocols. The Finance Operations Manager will lead a dedicated team and may engage in daily accounting activities as needed, fostering collaboration with Accountants and the CFO across various organizational entities.

Mount Prospect Academy (MPA) is a dynamic consortium of nonprofit organizations established to assist at-risk youth in discovering their potential and achieving success in life. MPA has diversified its offerings to include a range of mental health services tailored for challenging adolescent populations. Our comprehensive services encompass home and community-based treatment, residential programs, group homes, and specialized educational institutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations to ensure the availability of accurate financial data consistently and promptly.
  • Maintain a robust system of controls over all financial transactions.
  • Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks among accounting personnel.
  • Guide and assist in the preparation of audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with program teams to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of information flow to the accounting department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable and general accounting procedures.
  • Familiarity with SAGE Intacct or similar accounting software.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong personnel management capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • Four to six years of relevant experience in an accounting role, with management experience being advantageous.

Communication Skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports.
  • Prompt responsiveness to emails and phone inquiries.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will oversee a team responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
