Key Responsibilities

The Cardiac Imaging Specialist plays a vital role in the assessment and management of cardiac health by utilizing state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to produce detailed images of the heart and vascular system. Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicating the procedure clearly to patients and their families before and during the examination.
  • Gathering relevant clinical history and consulting with referring physicians to determine the appropriate ultrasound procedure.
  • Adjusting machine settings, calibrating equipment, and conducting echocardiography examinations of diagnostic quality, ensuring comprehensive visualization of cardiac structures.
  • Employing additional devices (such as cameras and video recorders) to create permanent records of examinations.
  • Maintaining ultrasound equipment in optimal working condition, identifying malfunctions, and performing minor repairs or reporting major issues.
  • Selecting appropriate tracings for cardiologist review, ensuring all measurements and calculations are accurate prior to submission.
  • Keeping detailed departmental records, including patient charts and statistical data.
  • Promptly notifying cardiologists of tests requiring interpretation, ensuring timely communication of any unusual or concerning findings.
  • Assisting with additional cardiology procedures as necessary.
  • Participating in on-call duties for departmental coverage.
  • Performing other assigned responsibilities as needed.

Unavailable offers an Education Benefit program for eligible employees after a designated period of employment. This initiative provides financial assistance for educational pursuits, with full-time employees eligible for up to $18,000 over five years, and part-time employees up to $9,000.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent, along with completion of an accredited Echocardiography Program.

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Certification from ARDMS/RDCS or CCI/RCS is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in pediatric and structural heart imaging is advantageous.
