Brownsville ISD is seeking a skilled Instrument Repair Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing Brass and Woodwind instruments and requisitioning all necessary parts. Key responsibilities include inspecting instruments, moving mechanical parts, and playing scales to determine defects. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Texas driver's license, and an acceptable driving record. Additionally, they must be able to make characteristic sounds on all instruments. The Instrument Repair Technician will work closely with our music department to ensure that all instruments are in good working condition. The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

* Inspect instruments and move mechanical parts to determine defects
* Play scales to determine defects and identify areas for repair
* Remove old parts and install new ones as needed
* Pin and fill cracks on wood instruments
* Solder patches over cracks in brass instruments
* Chemically clean brass instruments and replace worn corks and felt
* Remove old pads and install new ones as needed
* Replace worn tenon corks
* Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties
* Maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior
* Maintain professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required
* Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director

**Requirements:**

* High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English
* Valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
* Ability to make characteristic sounds on all instruments
