Job Summary:

As an Instrument Repair Technician with the Brownsville Independent School District, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our musical instruments. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair brass and woodwind instruments, requisitioning all necessary parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify defects, move mechanical parts, and play scales to determine the extent of damage.
  • Remove and replace old parts, fill cracks in wood instruments, and solder patches over cracks in brass instruments.
  • Chemically clean brass instruments, replace worn corks and felt, and remove old pads to install new ones as needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, maintaining a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Maintain professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested or required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to make characteristic sound on all instruments.
