Correctional Facility Operations Manager

Job Summary:
The Inmate Worker Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of inmate worker crews in various areas of the Sheriff's complex and community projects. This role requires strong leadership and supervisory skills to ensure the successful completion of work assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate inmate worker tasks, assignments, and schedules.
- Evaluate inmate worker performance, provide necessary training, and assess the final work product.
- Supervise and direct inmate worker crews engaged in completion of work assignments in various areas of operation.
- Provide leadership by resolving inmate worker disputes, assigning jobs, and issuing proper safety equipment and clothing.
- Provide informal counseling, conduct inmate escorting tasks, and provide meals and breaks for inmate workers.
- Determine the need for safety equipment and provide mandated on-the-job training to inmate workers.
- Provide remedial training when needed and recommend the discipline and/or discharge of incompetent workers.
- Constantly evaluate the work product and determine the required training to successfully complete daily work assignments.
- Provide and document all training and work performance completed in the work unit.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Research products to use at the most cost-effective price needed in completing work assignments.
- Determine what statistical data needs to be updated, saved, and filed in accordance with department policies and the American Correctional Association standards.
- Perform administrative functions, including updating inmate worker computer reports and responding to daily communications.
- Update daily inmate worker line inspection reports, daily chemical, tool, and equipment inventories.
- Correct inspection report deficiencies and update inmate worker training files.
- Document completed work assignments and capture unit statistical information for the Unit Monthly report.
- Conduct product research and obtain needed supplies and equipment in the work unit.
Requirements:
- Preferred - 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Preferred - experience in commercial or industrial laundry operations, landscape maintenance, and/or custodial service work.
Education: GED or High School Diploma
Experience: Minimum 1 year of work experience
