California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at a correctional facility. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our institution.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group recreation therapy sessions.
- Monitor and document treatment progress, and work with other healthcare providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and treatment of patients.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work.
- Registration as a senior will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation or its equivalent and completion of the required field work before they will be considered eligible for appointment.
- Travel is required.
- Do not include any confidential information on any documents you submit for a job vacancy, such as your State application, resume, or educational transcripts.
- Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
- Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
