About Dartmouth Health

We are currently in search of a dedicated full-time Cardiovascular Perfusion Specialist to join our esteemed team. Team Collaboration
Our cooperative team is expanding, seeking a sixth perfusionist to collaborate with four skilled and amiable surgeons. Our remarkable cardiac anesthesia team, along with physician assistants and registered nurses, works together to serve the largest geographical area in New England. The case load includes coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve surgeries, aortic procedures, standby for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and lead extractions, with no transplant or ventricular assist device (VAD) cases.
ECMO Management
Our multidisciplinary ECMO team manages 10-15 ECMO cases annually, with respiratory therapists providing the majority of bedside coverage while the perfusion team oversees initiations, daily evaluations, and occasional transport.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare equipment and medications for specific procedures, ensuring aseptic conditions.
- Develop preoperative perfusion strategies and calculate necessary formulas based on patient history.
- Establish and monitor arterial-venous systems during open-heart surgeries.
- Adjust perfusion plans as needed throughout surgical procedures.
- Document all perfusion activities accurately in patient records.
- Maintain and inspect perfusion equipment regularly, arranging for professional servicing as required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of postgraduate education in Perfusion or equivalent experience is required. Familiarity with membrane oxygenation, roller and centrifugal pumps, and intra-aortic balloon pumps is preferred.
Licensure and Certifications
Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion is required within one year of hire, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Registration with the New Hampshire Board of Registration for Medical Technicians is also necessary.
