Role Summary

In our consultancy environment, we are seeking a Health & Safety Specialist tasked with supporting a client in a specific industry. This role, reporting to the business leader, encompasses various responsibilities, including overseeing construction projects from a health and safety standpoint, conducting physical hazard assessments, and auditing workplace activities to identify and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

A. Development of Project-Specific Safety Plans:

  • Provide guidance to client personnel on health, safety, and environmental matters while reviewing project-specific safety plans and health and safety program documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation or evaluation of pre-job hazard assessments.
  • Compile health and safety performance reports, daily activity logs, and timesheets.
  • Generate site tour observation reports, pinpointing conditions that necessitate corrective measures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections focusing on high-risk operations and conditions.
  • Oversee subcontractors from an OSHA compliance perspective, ensuring that preventive measures are communicated effectively.
  • Review and verify trade safety records, safety boards, site signage, and the presence of health and safety documentation and permits for compliance.
  • Participate in health and safety committee meetings, providing expertise and fulfilling committee responsibilities as needed.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of orientations and training programs.
  • Support on-site incident investigations and health and safety requirements.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agency officials during site visits related to health and safety incidents.

B. Identifying Opportunities for Client Engagement:

  • Seek opportunities to expand or acquire new client engagements by leveraging CrossSafety Holdings Inc. services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certification or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant trade certification.
  • 2 to 5 years of on-site health and safety experience in the construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of NC OSHA Industrial Regulations, particularly in construction.
  • Experience in conducting project safety audits and inspections.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage expectations, show initiative, and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Completion of training in Fall Protection, WHMIS, Silica Mitigation, and Hazard Communication.
