Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Calibration Specialist to join our team at National Experienced Workforce Solutions. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise and consultation to our Radiological Emergency Response Team staff and the Field Instrument Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrument Calibration and Maintenance: Perform specialized radiation survey instrument repair, maintenance, and calibration, following appropriate guidelines and procedures to ensure accurate results.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct quality control checks on instrumentation, assess and evaluate instrument performance, and maintain related QA documents.
  • Technical Advisory and Support: Serve as an expert-level technical advisor to NCRFO staff on calibration and maintenance of electronic instrumentation, and provide ongoing technical advice and recommendations.
  • Instrument Tracking and Management: Maintain records and instrument tracking databases, and assist staff with categorizing and transferring EPA equipment data into web-based tracking and management systems.
  • Shipping and Storage: Assist with shipping and storage of radiation equipment, and provide response support for critical project planning and logistics activities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in calibration and maintenance of electronic instrumentation, or a BA/BS degree in Math, Engineering, or a Science-related field.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with instrumentation, electronics, and radiation measuring instruments, as well as proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and other relevant software.
  • Training and Certifications: Completion of training in Fundamentals of Radioactivity or Health Physics, and NRC-approved training in Basic Radiation Worker Training.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Lifting less than 50lbs, exposure to hot/cold weather, and potential exposure to radiation sources.
  • Required Safety Gear: Coveralls, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, and safety goggles/glasses as needed.
