Radiation Instrumentation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Calibration Specialist to join our team at National Experienced Workforce Solutions. As a Calibration Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our radiation instrumentation.
Job Summary:The Calibration Specialist will provide independent technical expertise and consultation to Radiological Emergency Response Team staff and the Field Instrument Program Manager at the National Center for Radiation Field Operations in Las Vegas. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining NCRFO's field radiation instrumentation, including evaluation, calibration, and repair of radiation survey and monitoring instruments.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform specialized radiation survey instrument repair, maintenance, and calibration, following appropriate guidelines and procedures.
- Conduct Quality Control checks on instrumentation to assess and evaluate instrument performance and maintain related QA documents.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to instrument program leads in research, development, and implementation of new and custom instrumentation.
- Maintain records and instrument tracking databases with current information regarding the status of the radiation instrument inventory.
- Assist staff with categorizing and transferring EPA equipment data into web-based tracking and management systems.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in calibration and maintenance of electronic instrumentation or related on-the-job experience.
- BA/BS Degree in Math, Engineering, or Science-related field or previously completed training in Fundamentals of Radioactivity or Health Physics.
- Experience with instrumentation, electronics, and radiation measuring instruments.
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and other relevant software applications.
The Calibration Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The position requires a high level of independent judgment, analytical work, and technical knowledge. The successful candidate will be required to lift less than 50 pounds, work in hot and cold weather conditions, and be exposed to radiation sources.
