Job Summary

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Machine Maintenance Technician to support the design, build, and operation of Starbase infrastructure systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and performing other related duties to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and Repair Mechanical Systems: Ensure the smooth operation of mechanical systems, including power plants, generators, and other equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Identify and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical systems, using your knowledge of schematics and technical documentation.
  • Read and Utilize Schematics: Interpret and apply technical drawings and schematics to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Perform Other Related Duties: Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned, to support the overall goals and objectives of the team.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Blueprint Reading and Correlation: 1+ years of experience reading blueprints and correlating them to physical components.
  • Generator Sets and Controllers: Understanding of generator sets (CAT, Mitsubishi, Cummings) and generator controllers (DeepSea, Woodward).
  • Diesel Mechanics and Internal Combustion Engines: Understanding of diesel mechanics and internal combustion engines.
  • Maintenance Technician or Field Service Engineer: 5+ years of experience as a maintenance technician or field service engineer.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Ability to operate a forklift and other related inventory equipment.
  • Power Tools and Hand Tools: Ability to use power tools and hand tools.
  • Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic Schematics: Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and drawings.
  • Repair Reports: Ability to write detailed repair reports (advanced MS Office skills).
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency. Analytic thinker that gets to the root of the problem and comes up with a permanent solution to remedy the issue.
  • Work Orders and Deadlines: Ability to navigate, utilize, and close out work orders. Ability to work under deadlines, in a high-paced work environment.
  • Technical Content and Prioritization: Ability to quickly learn and absorb technical content. Strong prioritization skills, and analytical, computer, and written skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Lifting and Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying may be required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Extended Hours: Ability to work extended hours as needed to support project milestones.
Compensation and Benefits

SpaceX offers a competitive compensation package, including:

  • Base Salary: Machine Maintenance Technician/Level 1: $21.00/hour, Machine Maintenance Technician/Level 2: $26.00/hour, Machine Maintenance Technician/Level 3: $31.00/hour.
