PROCESS ENGINEER

Location: Belcamp, MD

Reports to: Manager IPS & Process Engineering

Workplace type: On-Site

As a Process Engineer, Core , you will play a crucial role in delivering technical solutions tailored to the Core operations. This position is integral in ensuring a prompt and effective response to activities within the unit, which includes executing projects, supporting ongoing initiatives, and collaborating across functions to adapt solutions that align with the plant's safety, environmental, quality, cost, and customer delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading project execution (establishing and adhering to budget and timelines, overseeing construction, training personnel, managing startup processes, and coordinating with quality control, safety, health, environmental, and maintenance teams) for projects up to $10M or participating as a team member in larger project initiatives.
  • Offering technical expertise to plant safety professionals on safety initiatives when designing or redesigning work processes to mitigate workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Diagnosing issues, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing action plans with follow-up to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Conducting engineering studies, designs, and justifications for operational goals.
  • Maintaining historical data to analyze and monitor key efficiencies and parameters against design specifications to assist operations in troubleshooting and achieving cost and production targets.
  • Evaluating, obtaining approval for, and executing enhancements to the plant's safety, reliability, capacity, operating costs, maintenance, and product quality.
  • Staying current in the field, assessing new technologies and concepts, and developing and seeking approval for innovative ideas to enhance process efficiency, facility longevity, and product quality.
  • Facilitating process training and ensuring that documentation is current upon project completion.
  • Supporting ongoing training for operations to maintain operator proficiency.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in executing projects or process improvements and troubleshooting within a manufacturing context.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly and preparing concise reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, build consensus, and foster relationships across various organizational levels and functions. Self-directed with a strong initiative.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, resourcefulness, and creativity in managing complex technical assignments with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to implement projects/permits and perform engineering functions in a manufacturing setting, ensuring completed projects meet design objectives.
  • Project Management training and/or certification is advantageous.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus.

Position Details:

  • Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am – 4 pm.
  • On-call and weekend responsibilities may be required to address issues in a 24/7 manufacturing environment as necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
