Job Title: Assistant Teacher-3s & 4s, 12:30-6PM
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate early childhood professional to join our team at the Glencoe Park District. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in the Children's Circle Day Care/Pre-school program. This is a part-time position working Monday through Friday, 12:30-6PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Lesson Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development in each child.
- Classroom Maintenance: Take responsibility for the upkeep of the classroom, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Child Support: Assist children in clean-up activities, maintain cleaning charts, and administer physician-prescribed medication with written parental authorization.
- Parent Communication: Remind parents to sign their child in and out when entering and leaving the center.
- Supervision and Safety: Supervise all activities to ensure the safety of children and maintain a safe environment.
- Interacting with Children: Interact directly with children throughout the day, speak with them at their eye level, and engage in activities that promote good nutrition habits.
- Professional Growth: Participate in activities leading to professional growth in child development and maintain prompt hours.
- Compliance and Policies: Ensure compliance with all DCFS policies, procedures, and requirements, as well as follow all policies of the center and the Glencoe Park District.
- Staff Meetings and Functions: Attend staff meetings, school functions, and complete any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate: You must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and be at least 19 years of age or older.
- Early Childhood College Credits and Experience: Early childhood college credits and previous experience in a DCFS-licensed program are preferred.
- Knowledge of DCFS Licensing Standards and Developmentally Appropriate Practices: You must possess general knowledge of DCFS licensing standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
