Position Summary:
The Production Assistant is responsible for supporting the operation of production machinery, ensuring efficient setup, operation, and cleanup while contributing to process improvements to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
- Understand and implement quality control measures to prevent defective products from reaching customers.
- Assist the Machine Operator in maximizing equipment utilization and minimizing downtime.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to prevent hazards.
- Learn the operational capabilities of machinery to enhance efficiency without compromising quality.
- Participate in cross-training to gain experience in various roles within the plant.
- Accurately complete necessary production reports and documentation.
- Submit maintenance requests for equipment repairs as needed.
- Adapt to changing duties and collaborate with team members to support plant operations.
- Follow the production schedule and suggest optimizations to meet quality and service objectives.
- Be available for overtime work as required to meet customer needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience in the packaging industry, particularly in paper or plastics manufacturing.
- At least six months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and safety guidelines.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools and performing basic calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
- Frequent use of hands for handling materials and operating machinery.
- Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying environmental conditions.
- Noise levels in the work area may be loud.
