Position Summary:
The Production Assistant is responsible for supporting the operation of production machinery, ensuring efficient setup, operation, and cleanup while contributing to process improvements to meet production demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Understand and implement quality control measures to prevent defective products from reaching customers.
  • Assist the Machine Operator in maximizing equipment utilization and minimizing downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to prevent hazards.
  • Learn the operational capabilities of machinery to enhance efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Participate in cross-training to gain experience in various roles within the plant.
  • Accurately complete necessary production reports and documentation.
  • Submit maintenance requests for equipment repairs as needed.
  • Adapt to changing duties and collaborate with team members to support plant operations.
  • Follow the production schedule and suggest optimizations to meet quality and service objectives.
  • Be available for overtime work as required to meet customer needs.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the packaging industry, particularly in paper or plastics manufacturing.
  • At least six months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools and performing basic calculations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling materials and operating machinery.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying environmental conditions.
  • Noise levels in the work area may be loud.
