Academic Advisor II Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor II to join our team at the College of Arts & Sciences. As an Academic Advisor II, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, providing guidance on academic programs, and helping students achieve their academic and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and maintain student records for degree requirements using an academic evaluation system.
  • Monitor student registration activities and academic performance and progress.
  • Deliver communication to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, academic resources, and outreach activities that will promote retention, progression, and graduation.
  • Monitor and track the retention, progression, and graduation of the assigned student population.
  • Maintain and update student records in the information system.
  • Provide administrative support to department undergraduate directors as it relates to course substitutions, petitions, and permissions.
  • Process registration permissions in Banner for students in assigned populations.
  • Support undergraduate directors with advisement-related events and advisement data needs from Navigate or other reporting tools.
  • Serve as a lead worker for specified programs.
  • Coordinate regular advisement training, development, and planning meetings and activities for designated programs.
  • Mentor Academic Advisor I and II's; train and supervise staff and/or student assistants.
  • Coordinate special programs or functions such as dual degree, BIS, petitions, appeals, grade appeals, etc.
  • Participate in planning information sessions or activities.
  • Participate regularly in university, college, and area advisement training, development, and planning meetings and activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of College and University training for advisement personnel.
  • Participate in college, departmental, and other meetings related to undergraduate programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.
