About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Phoenix Counseling & Crisis Centers.

Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities challenges. As a crisis support specialist, you will provide vital assistance to consumers receiving 24/7 crisis services, ensuring their safety and well-being.

This critical role requires a high level of emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis support services to consumers under general supervision
  • Support medical and clinical services being provided to consumers
  • Offer group and individual supportive counseling using a peer support process
  • Conduct screenings for walk-in consumers and complete paperwork under supervision
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Assist consumers with basic needs, transportation, and other duties assigned by supervisor
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in delivering crisis services, with credit given for previous crisis experience in other job positions, practicums, and internships
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist
  • The ability to obtain certification as a Wrap Facilitator within six months of hire
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to operate a company-provided vehicle
  • The ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available by phone to cover increased acuity on unit or as requested by supervisor
