Role Summary:
The Assistant Manager of Environmental Health and Safety plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being of all employees. This position is responsible for implementing enhancements aimed at achieving exceptional safety and environmental standards while overseeing proactive strategies to reduce workplace risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead safety committees to promote team engagement.
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs focused on EH&S.
- Facilitate communication efforts to cultivate a strong safety culture.
- Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Provide expert guidance during investigations of incidents and changes in operations.
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and manage associated programs.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline is required, along with 5-8 years of pertinent experience in manufacturing or a similar field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as proficiency in project management and problem-solving techniques. A comprehensive understanding of safety practices, training, and worker's compensation is also necessary.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have a proven history of driving continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with safety systems and practices is preferred.
Physical Demands:
This role may involve occasional lifting and movement of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities and hearing capabilities are necessary for effective reading, writing, and communication.
Work Environment:
The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical components and varying levels of noise.
