Job Summary

We are seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a Patient Safety Attendant, you will be responsible for providing constant, close observation of assigned patients and assisting with activities of daily living. You will maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with D-H policy and procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to RN at beginning of shift for communication about assignment and delegation of tasks related to care and observation of the assigned patient.
  • Completes any related required learning activities as directed by the RN.
  • Remains in constant attendance with the assigned patient until relieved by a qualified individual identified by the RN.
  • Assists in meal tray set-up and may assist with feeding if necessary and appropriate as directed by RN.
  • Offers assistance with hand or face washing as needed.
  • Assists nursing staff to turn or reposition patient as directed.
  • Monitors and records intake and output as directed by RN.
  • May ambulate/toilet patient if appropriate and directed by RN.
  • May assist with bathing the patient as directed by RN.
  • Reports any observed changes in the patient's condition to the RN.
  • Obtains immediate assistance from the RN in the case of any unusual circumstances, or with any restrained patient who needs assistance or attention.
  • Does not convey, handle, administer or dispose of medications and does not have access to secured medication areas.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to relate easily to both children and adults with all types of illnesses.
  • Required Licensure/Certifications: None.
