Entry-Level Kitchen Position in Coopershill, NH

We are seeking an ambitious Commis Chef to join our team at Coopershill, a casual dining establishment in Peterborough, NH. As a member of our kitchen staff, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality dishes for our guests.

  • The successful candidate will assist in food preparation and cooking, working closely with our experienced chefs to deliver exceptional cuisine.
  • Maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene within the kitchen is essential, contributing to a smooth day-to-day operation.
Responsibilities
  1. Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients for daily service, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients, following recipes, and completing prep work.
  2. Cooking & Plating: Cook menu items according to recipe and presentation standards, ensuring flavorful and visually appealing dishes.
  3. Team Support: Work efficiently with fellow cooks, kitchen, and Front of House staff to maintain a seamless workflow during busy service hours.
  4. Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workspace, adhering to local health codes and Coopershill standards.
  5. Food Safety: Follow protocols for proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients to ensure safe consumption.
  6. Inventory Support: Assist with receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients, ensuring proper stock rotation.
  7. Equipment Maintenance: Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any issues or needed repairs to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
Requirements
  • Experience: Entry-level; previous experience in a kitchen is a plus but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of food preparation and knife handling.
    • Ability to follow recipes and take direction.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Food handlers certificate preferred.
  • Personal Traits: Energetic, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
Working Conditions

Coopershill offers a dynamic work environment with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. You will be working in a kitchen setting with exposure to heat, sharp objects, and moving equipment.
