Role Overview:

The Staff Accountant is accountable for specific tasks within the accounting department. This position is essential for ensuring the prompt payment of vendor invoices and expense reimbursements, maintaining precise records, control documentation, and preparing reconciliations. This individual will oversee the accurate recording of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and designated expense accounts. The person in this role will contribute to the project and departmental milestones and goals through the management of assigned accounts. This position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable - monitor and reconcile client accounts to ensure that receivables and payables are up to date and communicate with the service team and management as needed.
  • Reconcile payment remittances with the billing system of record.
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries regarding account status, invoice payments, and refund statuses.
  • Prepare Bank, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable reconciliations.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Assist in maintaining a system of internal controls with detailed documentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.
  • Provide accounting support to operational functions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional skepticism.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the insurance sector.
  • Background in Public Accounting.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct.
  • CPA certification.
Interview Process:

We aim to ensure you are at your best during the interview process and will avoid any tricky questions. Our goal is to understand you better, discuss your interests, and learn about your future aspirations.

1. Initial Conversation:

You will have a 30-minute call with a member of the People Ops team to discuss your background and explore mutual fit.

2. Technical Interview:

A 30-minute video interview with the hiring manager will focus on your technical skills relevant to the role.

3. Project Exercise:

This role requires strong planning, collaboration, and communication skills. You will be presented with a short exercise to complete independently, showcasing your problem-solving abilities and communication skills.

4. Team Meeting:

You will meet other team members to foster a better understanding of the company culture.
