About the Role

The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Scholarship Coordinator and Financial Aid Associate to join our team in the Office of Student Financial Aid. This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of financial aid policies and procedures, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Scholarship Reviews: Manage the mid-year and annual scholarship reviews, including correspondence, appeals, and metrics tracking.
  • Financial Aid Support: Assist with the management and oversight of the Iowa Scholarship Portal (Blackbaud) and work with the University of Iowa Center for Advancement scholarships.
  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for Athletic scholarships and financial aid offers.
  • Student Support: Advise enrolled students and parents about scholarships and financial aid programs, including application procedures and eligibility requirements.
  • Administrative Procedures: Coordinate and manage administrative procedures and policies to increase efficient and effective operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience: Experience working in a higher education, post-secondary academic setting or in another sector dealing with budgeting, counseling, and/or education, typically six months to one year.
  • Travel: Some occasional admissions events may require travel.
Competencies
  • Communication: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in communicating for effective relationships, including communication techniques and relationship building skills.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in accuracy and attention to detail, including the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Data Gathering and Analysis: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in data gathering and analysis, including data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes.
  • Microsoft Office: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience: 2 or more years of experience in a higher education, post-secondary academic setting.
  • University of Iowa Policies: Demonstrates a basic proficiency level in the knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Financial Aid Programs: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the knowledge of and the ability to develop and implement financial aid programs and policies.
  • Needs Analysis and Federal Verification: Demonstrates a basic understanding of needs analysis and federal verification, including Federal Methodology.
