Lubrication Systems Engineer, Drive Efficiency

The Drive System Engineering team is responsible for designing and developing advanced drive systems that meet the high standards of performance, efficiency, and reliability required by Tesla's electric vehicles. We are seeking an experienced Lubrication Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative lubrication solutions for our gearboxes.
This role will focus on applying CAE (Computational Fluid Dynamics) techniques to optimize gearbox lubrication and improve overall system efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CFD simulation, finite volume method, and multiphase model creation. Experience with Ansys, Altair, or GT-Suite is a plus. In addition to technical expertise, we value collaboration, innovation, and a willingness to challenge assumptions. Responsibilities
- Detailed gearbox oiling simulation to determine oiling rate in various gearbox components like gear, bearing, spline, and other gearbox components/features in oil circuit
- Thermal profile determination of the gearbox components
- Oil level dynamic change in various operating conditions, oil splashing, sloshing and oil flooding/starvation under different driving conditions, to assure lubrication requirements are met under all conditions
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experienced with CFD simulation, smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulation or other lubrication simulation approach for gearbox application
- Experience with creating and executing design validation plan for validating the lubrication simulation models
Compensation and Benefits
$104,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, 401(k), employee stock purchase plans, and more.
