Job Title: Computed Tomography Technologist

UNC Health is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.

This position is for a CT Tech inside of the O.R. Additional duties and responsibilities include C-arm work and portables.

Responsibilities:
  • Patient Identification: Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, assist patients and family members that require extra attention, and ensure patient understanding and safety.
  • CT Scans: Obtain images per protocols, manipulate images according to protocols, perform multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of CT algorithms.
  • Contrast: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, and follow correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility.
  • Image Transfer: Maintain a thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify and segment images at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools to verify images transmission, complete, modify, and/or cancel orders in an appropriate and timely manner, and cancel duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing.
  • Other Duties: Perform tasks in a timely manner, run the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteer to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research, produce quality diagnostic images, review patient's chart and reports for correlation, maintain a clean and orderly work environment, create and keep documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department, and precept new employees and students.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible.
  • Requires advanced certification in CT within one year of employment.
  • Successful candidates must become registered within one year of employment and must maintain their registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
  • All imaging specialists are required to maintain current competency in HCP BLS.
