Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department's specific requirements and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Associate Degree, or Certificate, or Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree, or Vocational School Graduate.
