Respiratory Therapist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for administering all therapy modalities to adult, pediatric, and newborn patients, as well as initiating, operating, and monitoring mechanical ventilators for all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer therapy modalities to patients per physician's orders
  • Initiate, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators
  • Perform arterial puncture, blood gas, and electrolyte analysis
  • Respond to rapid response and code blue calls
  • Adhere to quality control procedures
  • Verify physician orders prior to therapy
  • Conduct thorough, accurate reports to oncoming staff
  • Enter patient contacts into Meditech
  • Participate in departmental duties, including orientation, precepting students, and continuing education
  • Perform regular equipment rounds
Requirements:
  • Preferred: One year experience in area of clinical expertise
  • Minimum: 1 year of NICU experience
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care (Associates degree)
  • Preferred: B.S. degree or currently enrolled in B.S. program
  • Required: Current VA license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner or License pending State Board results
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers through the AHA or CPR through the American Red Cross
  • Preferred: Certified Respiratory Therapist and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE
