Summary:
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Provider (Instructor FTE 0.6) to join our team. As a faculty member, you will have the opportunity to provide patient care services at the Strawberry Health Clinic, one of our affiliate facilities. Job Purpose:
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will provide advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting, under the direction of a physician. Your responsibilities will include performing pertinent history and physical exams, administering treatment and care management, and evaluating diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests within the scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care services in a clinical setting, under the direction of a physician.
- Perform pertinent history and physical exams of patients.
- Administer treatment and care management accordingly.
- Evaluate diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests within the scope of practice.
- Provide acute, preventive, and chronic medical care in continuity or same-day setting.
- Follow established protocols to manage specific patient problems/illnesses/care in collaboration with a supervising physician.
- Billing visit incidents to provider services.
- Provide constructive input on improving the delivery of services to the medical director and clinic manager.
- Maintain medical records using an electronic medical record.
- Meet or exceed productivity targets and benchmarks established by the Department and College.
- Provide self-direction with good organizational skills.
- Communicate and work well within a collaborative team environment.
- Adhere to Baylor College of Medicine and affiliates' policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner) or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (for Physician Assistant).
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner).
- Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board (for Physician Assistant).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
