Position Overview: The Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE) is on the lookout for a Graduate Assistant to deliver writing assistance to both undergraduate and graduate students. This part-time role presents a remarkable opportunity for a graduate student to acquire practical experience in tutoring and academic support while aiding students in refining their writing abilities across diverse fields.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) located in the Phoenix metro area, requiring in-person attendance with flexible scheduling options available from Sunday to Thursday evenings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both virtual and in-person one-on-one and group tutoring sessions focused on essay writing, research papers, and various academic writing tasks.
  • Assist students in grasping and implementing effective writing principles, emphasizing organization, clarity, grammar, and style.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate citation and referencing methods.
  • Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions.
  • Mentor fellow student workers.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree-seeking program at GCU (certificate-only programs do not meet this criterion).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (newly admitted students will have their admission GPA considered). A GPA of 3.0 must be sustained throughout employment.
  • Continuous enrollment in the graduate program is required.
