Position Overview:

The San Francisco Department of Public Health is seeking dedicated float physicians who are committed to delivering community-centered healthcare.

Flexible Employment Options:

We offer various employment arrangements:

  • Permanent Float Physician: Ongoing positions with comprehensive benefits, requiring a minimum full-time equivalent (FTE) of 60%.
  • Temporary Float Physician: Limited-time roles with a minimum FTE of 60% and a commitment of at least 6 months. Benefits may be available.

Compensation: The salary range is between $219,000 and $316,186.00 annually, commensurate with post-residency clinical experience.

Role Responsibilities:

Float Physicians play a crucial role in maintaining continuity of care when regular providers are unavailable. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing in-person and telehealth primary care, preventive care, and urgent care aligned with medical specialties.
  • Managing a patient panel and covering in-baskets for absent providers.
  • Engaging in administrative tasks and quality improvement initiatives.

Assignments may vary based on daily, weekly, or monthly needs of the health centers.

We provide a range of on-site specialty services, including:

  • Prenatal and family planning care
  • Integrated behavioral health and substance use support
  • Dental, gender health, nutrition, pharmacy, and podiatry services
  • Integrative health services such as acupuncture
  • Support for individuals experiencing homelessness and refugees/asylum seekers

Our teams collaborate with academic partners to deliver acute, specialty, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation care, while also contributing to health education and research.

Qualifications:

  1. A valid medical license issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California.
  2. Completion of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (Board Eligible).
