About the Role

This Linux Systems Administrator Staff position is a critical part of our team at Lockheed Martin, where we tackle the most challenging missions in the industry. As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing IT systems, with a focus on Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Systems Implementation & Maintenance:
    • Provide support for implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT systems.
    • Manage IT system infrastructure and associated processes.
    • Handle the daily configuration and operation of IT systems.
  • System Operations & Monitoring:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, including monitoring and resolving issues for client/server, storage, network devices, and mobile devices.
    • Ensure smooth functioning and availability of IT systems through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Tier 1 & Tier 2 Support:
    • Deliver Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
    • Assist in the escalation and communication of system status to agency management and internal customers.
    • Stay involved in resolving hardware issues, particularly through the dispatch system.
  • Linux System Management:
    • Configure and manage Linux operating systems.
    • Install and load operating system software, ensuring systems are up-to-date and secure.
    • Troubleshoot issues, maintain the integrity of network components, and implement enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • System Optimization & Planning:
    • Optimize system operations and resource utilization.
    • Conduct system capacity analysis and planning to ensure systems meet current and future demands.
  • User Assistance & Problem Resolution:
    • Provide support to users in accessing and using IT systems.
    • Offer in-depth troubleshooting and problem resolution for escalated issues.
    • Deliver detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted.
  • 10 years of experience as a Systems Administrator (SA) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, including configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and vSphere is beneficial.
  • Ansible experience is preferred.
  • Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Poly SP
