We are seeking a skilled Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at Upstate University Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough health status assessments, including health histories and physical examinations, to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans.
- Initiate and perform selected procedures and laboratory examinations to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
- Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, making appropriate referrals to physicians for evaluation and supervision.
- Prescribe medications, assistive devices, and other equipment as needed to promote patient health and well-being.
- Teach, counsel, and assist patients and families in meeting their health needs, making referrals to other healthcare professionals and agencies as required.
- Participate in diagnostic testing to the extent allowed within your scope of practice.
- Act as a consultant to nursing staff and participate in inservice training as needed.
- Assist in clinical orientation of students or staff to our patient management routines and policies.
- Select and provide resource materials for nursing staff.
- Participate in research projects within the medical specialty.
Requirements
- NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required.
- NPI number and Medicare Enrollment with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) required.
- Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in a healthcare setting.
