Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough health status assessments, including health histories and physical examinations, to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans.
  • Initiate and perform selected procedures and laboratory examinations to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, making appropriate referrals to physicians for evaluation and supervision.
  • Prescribe medications, assistive devices, and other equipment as needed to promote patient health and well-being.
  • Teach, counsel, and assist patients and families in meeting their health needs, making referrals to other healthcare professionals and agencies as required.
  • Participate in diagnostic testing to the extent allowed within your scope of practice.
Teaching and Staff Development
  • Act as a consultant to nursing staff and participate in inservice training as needed.
  • Assist in clinical orientation of students or staff to our patient management routines and policies.
  • Select and provide resource materials for nursing staff.
Research
  • Participate in research projects within the medical specialty.

Requirements

  • NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required.
  • NPI number and Medicare Enrollment with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) required.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in a healthcare setting.
