Job Summary:

The Buffalo Public Schools is seeking a qualified Part-Time ESL Day Instructor to join our Adult Education team. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will be responsible for implementing the instructional program in the appropriate area, following curriculum guidelines provided, NYS Standards/Goals, and adhering to NRS Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the instructional program in the appropriate area, following curriculum guidelines provided, NYS Standards/Goals, and adhering to NRS Standards.
  • Evaluate students and instruction, and utilize the database and prescriptive software systems currently available.
  • Attend a minimum of 14 staff development hours by NYSED guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold, or be willing to obtain, a New York State Teaching Certificate or a New York State Adult Education Certificate.
  • Candidates will also be required to take or show proof of Child Abuse Reporting, SAVE, and DASA workshops.
  • Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field from an accredited university.
  • Certification in TESOL, ESOL, CELTA, or other related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years experience working with ESL and foreign-born adults in a workplace or educational setting.

Appointment and Salary:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of credentials, experience, and evaluation of service. Hourly Teacher Salary Schedule.
