Position Overview

The Recreation Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by designing and implementing engaging activity programs tailored to their needs.


Key Responsibilities

Daily Activities Program:
  • Develop a comprehensive schedule of activities that caters to the diverse interests of residents, including:
  • Group and individual activities.
  • Indoor and outdoor events.
  • Off-site excursions.
  • Encourage resident participation in the planning and execution of activities.
  • Facilitate a variety of programs, such as:
  • Spiritual enrichment.
  • Creative pursuits, including arts, crafts, music, and drama.
  • Cognitive engagement through educational activities.
  • Physical fitness through exercise and games.
  • Social interaction opportunities.
  • Seasonal celebrations.
  • Sensory activities.

Community Engagement:
  • Foster community and family involvement.
  • Implement pet therapy initiatives.
  • Coordinate intergenerational programs.

Planning and Communication:
  • Create and distribute a monthly activities calendar for residents, families, and staff.
  • Encourage resident involvement in all activities.
  • Conduct monthly Tenant Council meetings to address resident concerns.

Event Coordination:
  • Organize at least one evening and two weekend activities each month, including holiday events.
  • Plan community events based on resident interests.
  • Post daily activity schedules as requested.

Individual Support:
  • Arrange in-room activities for residents unable to participate in group settings.
  • Produce a monthly newsletter to keep residents and families informed.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, recognizing their contributions.

Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies.
  • Manage activity budgets and maintain financial records.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required; ongoing education encouraged.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to motivate others.
  • Basic computer proficiency, preferably in Microsoft 365.
