About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Specialist to join our team at Target. As a Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests and team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Sales: Welcome and engage guests and team members at the front of store, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Lead a Physical Security Culture: Assess and maintain safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property, to ensure a secure environment for all.
  • Respond to Security Incidents: Accurately document security incidents, including apprehending subjects in accordance with company policy, to prevent and mitigate potential threats.
  • Prevent Theft and Shortage: Perform receipt checks for exposed high-dollar merchandise, conduct productive merchandise recoveries, and provide apprehension support as needed to prevent theft and shortage.
  • Submit Documentation: Submit appropriate documentation in the system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
  • Model Safe Work Practices: Work safely, maintain a clean store, and identify and correct hazards to benefit yourself and others.
  • Provide Excellent Service: Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
Requirements
  • Age and Education: Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure and Certification: Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Possess a welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members, and be able to communicate effectively on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to climb up and down ladders, apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy, scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
