Role Summary

Under the guidance of the Principal, the After School Care Lead is responsible for overseeing and facilitating engaging activities for children enrolled in the After School Care Program. This role is essential in creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a daily program tailored to the unique needs and interests of each child, considering their individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including attendance tracking and emergency procedures, to maintain a secure environment for all children.
  • Develop and sustain an inviting and effective physical space conducive to learning and play.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages children to build self-esteem and develop positive social skills.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of behavior among students in line with established guidelines.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with parents and guardians of the children.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the program.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with experience working with youth in structured settings.
  • Understanding of children's needs and behaviors, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with school policies and regulations.
  • Exemplify Catholic values and principles in all interactions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements

To effectively meet the needs of the children, the After School Care Lead must:

  • Spend significant time standing and actively engaging with students.
  • Occasionally sit for tasks such as planning and assessment.
  • Navigate the classroom environment, including tight spaces and various surfaces.
  • Interact with children at their level, which may involve kneeling or bending.
  • Reach and manipulate objects at varying heights.
  • Assist in rearranging classroom furniture as necessary.
