Position Overview

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel for Supply Chain Operations, the Senior Paralegal / Legal Analyst (Real Estate) will be instrumental in managing the legal facets of real estate transactions concerning Grainger's owned and leased properties. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the drafting and examination of real estate documents, conducting thorough due diligence, and ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and corporate policies.

This role requires a hybrid work schedule, necessitating presence at our headquarters and/or designated office locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and oversee real estate contracts, lease agreements, and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel, title companies, property management firms, landlords, brokers, and internal business and legal teams on real estate issues.
  • Act as the primary legal contact for the Corporate Real Estate team, providing insights and guidance on matters related to Grainger's properties.
  • Organize and maintain real estate files and databases, ensuring the systematic collection, cataloging, and electronic storage of legal documents.
  • Support the due diligence process for real estate transactions, including title investigations, environmental assessments, and property evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit legal documents to relevant entities, such as county offices or courts.
  • Manage the intake process for legal and governmental notices directed to Grainger facilities.
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning real estate.
  • Assist during real estate negotiations and closing processes.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Assistant General Counsel, including legal research and analysis on relevant laws and regulations, managing disputes with vendors, and drafting legal correspondence.
  • Review invoices from external legal counsel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Paralegal certification from an ABA-accredited program.
  • Over three years of experience in real estate law.
  • Comprehensive understanding of real estate transactions and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and synthesizing contractual terms accurately.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working independently or collaboratively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
  • Familiarity with electronic matter management and database systems is advantageous.
