Staff Physician, Correctional Health Services Specialist

As a Staff Physician, Correctional Health Services, you will provide primary care to patients in jail-based clinics, perform intake evaluations and treatment, and provide emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians. This role is part of a care delivery team with strong administrative support staff, integrated nursing and mental health.
Responsibilities
* Completes comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions.
* Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic illnesses.
* Evaluates the need for consult services and submits prioritized consults when indicated.
* Reviews all on-island/off-island specialty consult clinic and hospital returns.
* Responds to emergencies and fire drills on a priority basis and in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
* Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification.
* Medical Specialty License or Certification.
* Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty.
* 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, which include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
