Key Responsibilities
  • Implement educational programs in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Support children's development through intentional programming that fosters achievement and community among children and their families.
  • Oversee children, classroom activities, and assist staff, ensuring all activities are inclusive and accommodating.
  • Conduct regular observations of individual children and complete developmental assessments consistently.
  • Build positive relationships with families, conduct parent meetings, and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Provide support to children in need.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers and Support Staff.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions that impact the organization and its operations.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Uphold a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and actively engage in safeguarding youth and teens.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 20 years.
  • Must meet MOA or NAEYC educational standards with at least 9 credit hours in early childhood education.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children is required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills are essential.
  • Ability to connect with children, parents, staff, and volunteers effectively.
