Compensation ranges from $10,696 to $11,361 per standard 3 unit course, contingent upon the candidate's teaching experience at the university level.
Purpose:
The Department of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is seeking an Annual Lecturer to instruct practicum-related courses and enhance the practicum program within CPSY. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to teach courses in their specific area(s) of expertise within the Departments of Counseling Psychology or Education. Annual Lecturers are salaried fixed-term faculty members. A full-time teaching load encompasses 9 courses; this lecturer can work between 65-100% time based on their interests and expertise. The equivalent of four courses or 45% of a full-time role will be dedicated to practicum responsibilities, with the remainder allocated to teaching.
Practicum Experience Lead:
This individual should possess a strong commitment to graduate education and assist graduate students in Counseling Psychology in their professional development through fieldwork. Specifically, this role will primarily oversee the non-licensure track CPSY students pursuing either an MA in Counseling or an MA in Applied Psychology (both are 45-unit degrees). A one-quarter practicum is mandatory for students in these programs. The person in this position will take the lead in designing and implementing these practica—guiding students in identifying their career goals and leveraging the practicum experience to achieve those objectives, while collaborating with agencies, organizations, and faculty to create meaningful, tailored practica that enhance their academic and professional growth.
Additionally, this individual will support the clinical practicum efforts of the clinical practicum lead. The Assistant Professor of Teaching in Counseling Psychology is responsible for designing and managing the practicum experience for students seeking clinical licensure, ensuring that the program, sites, and practicum experiences meet the requirements of the BBS and provide students with valuable, supervised clinical experience. The Annual Lecturer will assist in the ongoing efforts of arranging practica and ensuring student preparedness—this includes supporting the development and evaluation of practicum sites, managing BBS requirements, advising and mentoring students, and serving as a liaison between the CPSY program and external placements that provide training and field experience for our CPSY students.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree: PhD or PsyD preferred; minimum requirement is MA with extensive relevant experience.
- Licensure as a mental health professional in California.
- Experience supervising or managing professional training and/or related experience.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
