Position Overview
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is in search of skilled candidates for the role of Customer Relations Specialist (Convention Services).

General Summary

Broward County's Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Lauderdale) is eager to find a seasoned hospitality services professional.

This role will primarily focus on supporting convention groups, sports organizations, and various sales initiatives by fostering positive connections with local industry stakeholders, linking meeting planners with regional resources, and orchestrating events for the bureau.

Essential Qualifications
Applicants must possess a minimum of four (4) years of experience in customer relations, including at least two (2) years of experience engaging with business entities in event planning or collaborating with meeting planners.

Certifications and Licenses
A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

Preferred Experience
At least two years in a customer service or client-facing role within the hospitality or tourism sector is highly desirable. The following responsibilities represent the primary functions of this position, with additional tasks assigned as necessary:
  • Maintain ongoing professional relationships with various organizations and colleagues.
  • Promote the agency at industry trade shows and participate in meetings with current and prospective partners.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives as requested.
  • Report potential hazards to appropriate management and risk management teams that could affect guests or staff.
  • Coordinate with transportation vendors, including taxis and shuttles.
  • Address various inquiries and issues from partners and guests.
  • Suggest enhancements to improve agency operations and customer experiences.
  • Conduct annual research and data collection.
  • Respond to requests from various partners and agencies.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of elevators, escalators, and other equipment, reporting issues to relevant departments.
  • Identify the need for additional signage and coordinate requests with Public Works.
  • Advise and collaborate with a wide range of customers, vendors, and partners on operational, marketing, and customer relations matters.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
This position involves light to medium physical activity, requiring walking or standing for extended periods and the ability to exert between 20 and 50 pounds of force regularly. It also necessitates considerable skill and dexterity in tasks requiring precision.

Work Environment
Routine exposure to traffic and moving machinery is expected.
