Job Summary

As a key member of the Memorial Hermann Health System team, the Physician - Specialty/Neurosurgery Expert will provide medical expertise and oversight of care throughout the healthcare system. This role requires the highest level of expertise to optimize quality of care and ensure exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Direct patient care throughout the healthcare system via Consult Orders.
    • Provide consultation services in collaboration with attending or primary care providers.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate with attending physicians, nurses, families, and other treatment team members to obtain the appropriate patient care plan.
    • Effectively communicate with treatment teams in a timely and professional manner to provide quality care to patients throughout the healthcare system.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Comply with best practices and other care directives.
    • Follow Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration and Development
    • Work with Memorial Hermann Physicians, Risk Managers, and Case Managers to resolve clinical, administrative, or technical problems.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to MH compliance privacy policies.
    • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
    • Support department-based goals that contribute to the success of the organization.
    • Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Current state medical license.
    • Current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency license.
    • Board certified or Board eligible.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Certification.
    • Staff privileges at all the hospitals for which coverage is being provided.
  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills
    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Exhibit teamwork skills that facilitate interchange between multidisciplinary healthcare workers to provide quality patient care/outcomes.
    • Superior problem-solving skills.
    • Be articulate and an active listener.
    • Address issues/concerns with the Memorial Hermann Health System in a timely fashion.
