About the Role

Northern Impact is seeking a talented Senior Project Architect to join our Sacramento, San Francisco, or San Jose office. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing complex healthcare projects alongside our Senior Designer and Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of projects' design philosophy and provide major input in developing a design and building performance strategy.
  • Provide technical design input and support for the development of the entire design concept.
  • Responsible for a project's technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination, and quality control efforts during all phases of project work.
  • Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develop appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
  • Actively collaborate with and coordinate work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design documents and lead the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases, delivering complete, accurate, and coordinated project documentation.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Review shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for conformance with design.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including RFI's, RFP's, change orders, etc.
  • Prepare reports and specifications; review completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations.
  • Execute applicable agency review analysis, including accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.
  • Establish architectural budget, task schedule, and other components of the project work plan in collaboration with Project Manager.
  • Implement meeting objectives, facilitate meetings, and provide meeting notes documentation.
  • Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client, and owner presentations as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Master's degree preferred.
  • California licensure is preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare projects required.
  • This position requires 10+ years' experience, including working on large-scale project types.
  • Ability to work with the regulations established by California's OSHPD group.
  • Strong graphics skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of Revit, 3D Max, SketchUp, and other industry-accepted software, as well as expertise with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid working situation, supporting our Northern California offices in person when appropriate.
