Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations at Navy Pier, Inc. The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and management to ensure the effective maintenance and operation of the facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property management and business operations, with a proven track record of improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance and operations teams, including trade forepersons and contracted labor.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for maintenance and operations, trade labor, and contracted services.
  • Maintain daily contact and relationships with maintenance and operations departments and contracted service providers.
  • Implement policies and procedures to improve day-to-day operations and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of operations.
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture department to fill budgeted positions and coordinate payroll.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability programs across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in property management or business operations, with a strong background in leadership and management.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to author effective reports and business correspondence.
  • Problem-solving proficiency with the ability to adapt solutions as situations change.

Work Environment
This position is located onsite within the administrative offices at Navy Pier, Inc. The ideal candidate will be able to work extended hours during a normal work week and be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
