Your responsibilities will include driving innovation and ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering, construction, and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels. You will provide practical solutions to navigate the challenges posed by a rapidly evolving business landscape.

Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver strategic leadership for the transit and rail engineering discipline, guiding teams to achieve project and site objectives effectively.
  • Conduct thorough engineering reviews of permit applications, design plans, and specifications to ensure adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Lead complex transit and rail engineering projects, managing timelines, budgets, and performance metrics while overseeing subcontractors and team members.
  • Drive business development efforts, focusing on large infrastructure projects within your designated geography.
  • Engage in technical negotiations and represent the engineering discipline in various meetings and presentations.

Your role will also involve supporting the long-term strategy and growth of Transit and Rail Engineering services at WSP, with an emphasis on infrastructure opportunities across all disciplines, including planning, design, and program management.

Additionally, you will:

  • Ensure the profitability and successful completion of projects within your area of responsibility.
  • Assist in the annual review of business tactical action plans.
  • Meet with stakeholders to address engineering and construction challenges.
  • Foster continuous improvement in engineering certifications and value propositions.
  • Conduct needs assessments and client surveys to align the engineering function with business strategies.
  • Facilitate engineering meetings to provide updates and recommendations.
  • Act as a liaison to external entities, including government agencies and industry groups.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.
  • Analyze data and provide strategic advice to multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Build a client base for high-level transit and rail engineering services and identify additional business opportunities.
  • Mentor staff to support their professional growth and development.
  • Stay updated on the latest engineering techniques and practices.
  • Collaborate with professionals across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, with a focus on transit and rail and infrastructure design.
  • Advanced knowledge of transit and rail engineering principles and regulatory standards.
  • Strong skills in technical computations and engineering analysis.
  • Proven leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in design software and engineering tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer license.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience managing document reviews and deliverables in a multi-project setting.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $180,000 - $240,000, based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience.
