Kiewit Luminarium is a pioneering science center dedicated to engaging individuals of all ages in the exploration of the remarkable phenomena that shape our lives and communities. Our state-of-the-art, 82,000 square-foot facility on the Omaha RiverFront is designed to inspire a lifelong passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through interactive exhibits and innovative programs.

The Environmental Operations and Exhibits team is a collaborative group of professionals committed to maintaining and enhancing our interactive exhibits, workshop, and overall facility. We prioritize the safety and satisfaction of our visitors, staff, and collaborators while fostering an environment of continuous improvement and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Maintenance: Perform comprehensive inspections, repairs, and general upkeep of the facility, ensuring compliance with company policies. Support the operational integrity of exhibits and workshop areas.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold the highest safety standards for all stakeholders. Identify opportunities for enhancing safety training and best practices while assisting in maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Innovation and Sustainability: Engage in the development and implementation of innovative building strategies. Explore and integrate new technologies to improve sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Project Management: Oversee and execute facility and exhibit projects with a keen focus on detail and impact. Assist with project logistics and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in a scheduled preventative maintenance program, ensuring optimal functionality of all systems and equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of parts and tools, ensuring all equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Emergency Response: Be part of the emergency on-call rotation for after-hours issues, familiarizing yourself with key safety systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members and colleagues across departments to ensure seamless operations.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Required Building Maintenance Manager/Facility Technician Certification or equivalent experience. Preference for BMS Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in facilities management with a focus on visitor-centric operations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of power tools and maintenance practices. Familiarity with building management systems is essential.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills with a customer service orientation, capable of working effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Cultural Competency: Ability to work with diverse groups to achieve exceptional outcomes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including walking, climbing, and bending.
  • Occasional work in noisy or confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Capability to operate mobile elevated work platforms and tools safely.
